What it means

Everyday support, with dignity

"Activities of daily living" is what care professionals call the basic things we all do each day: washing, dressing, eating, using the bathroom and moving around. As we get older, some of these get harder. That does not mean a person has to leave home.

Our caregivers step in exactly where help is needed and step back where it is not. The goal is simple: your loved one keeps doing as much as they can, safely, and never feels like a burden.

Care is delivered by certified nursing assistants and trained caregivers, with a care plan that adapts as needs change. One person stays in touch with your family the whole way.

What we help with

Daily tasks our caregivers take care of

Pick the help you need. Most families start with two or three of these and add more over time.

Personal care

Bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, shaving and oral hygiene, done gently and privately.

Mobility help

A steady arm getting out of bed, up from a chair, around the house and outside. Fewer falls, more confidence.

Medication reminders

Friendly reminders so medicines are taken as the doctor prescribed, on time, every time.

Meal preparation

Planning and cooking healthy meals your loved one actually enjoys, plus help eating when needed.

Light housekeeping and laundry

Tidy rooms, clean dishes, fresh sheets and clean clothes. A home that stays comfortable and safe.

Shopping and errands

Groceries, pharmacy trips and the small errands that are hard to manage alone.

Transportation

Rides to doctor's appointments, the hair salon, church or a friend's house, with company along the way.

Companionship

Conversation, card games, a walk in the park. Someone who shows up and genuinely cares.

Outings

Trips to the movies, restaurants, senior events, the library or the park, so life stays full.

Signs a little help at home would go a long way

  • A recent fall, or fear of falling in the shower or on the stairs
  • Skipped meals, weight loss, or spoiled food in the fridge
  • Missed medications or confusion about which pills to take
  • Clothes, hair or hygiene are not what they used to be
  • The house is less tidy, laundry piles up, mail goes unopened
  • A family caregiver is tired, stretched thin, or far away

If two or more of these sound familiar, it is a good time to call. Starting early keeps small problems from becoming big ones.

Common questions

Questions families ask us

How many hours of care do we need?

It depends on the person. Many families start with a few hours a day, a few days a week, often around mornings or meal times. Others need daily or 24-hour care. The free assessment helps you decide, and you can change the schedule at any time.

How soon can care start?

Usually within a few days of the in-home assessment. If you are bringing someone home from the hospital, tell us and we will do our best to move faster.

Will we have the same caregiver each time?

That is the goal. Consistency matters, especially for people living with memory loss. If your regular caregiver is sick or away, a trained backup who knows the care plan steps in.

What does it cost, and how do people pay?

Care is billed by the hour and depends on the schedule and level of help. Most families pay privately, and some long-term care insurance policies cover in-home care. Call us and we will walk you through the options for your situation.

Are caregivers screened and trained?

Yes. Care is delivered by our partner Engaged Living Seniors, a licensed, bonded and insured provider. Caregivers are background-checked, trained and matched to your loved one's needs.

What if my parent says they do not want help?

That is very common. It often helps to start small, for example help with meals or a weekly outing, and let the relationship grow. Our care coordinators have had this conversation many times and can help you find the right words.
